About Theta Eta Sigma

Theta Eta Sigma  Alumnae Chapter

of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered on December 3, 1996, in Rock Hill, SC by eight charter members: Mrs. Ruth Townes, Mrs. Shawnda Smith, Ms. Counsclo Nivens, Mrs. Sheneaque Mills Behr, Mrs. Robbie Adams, Mrs. Youlanda Grier, Mrs. Marquerite Bowman, and Mrs. Cornelia Curry. Their vision was to bring all the programs of service and education that the sorority provides to the Rock Hill community. The first year was devoted to organizing and planning. After becoming established, their first inductee into the chapter was Mrs. Felicia Robinson, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, on May 11, 1997. During the next two years, Theta Eta Sigma dwindled to two members, Counsclo Nivens and Felicia Robinson. Determined to continue doing the work of the sorority, they began recruiting new members and were able to reactivate Ms. Sharon Wallace in 1998. Three members strong, these young ladies took on the arduous task of reactivating the undergraduate chapter, Lambda Kappa, on the campus of Winthrop University, with 4 new young ladies in 2000 known as "Round 4: The Revival". Theta Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter continues to grow and make an impact not only in Rock Hill but all of York County, SC and surrounding communities.
